The Heb Hostel opened it's doors in May 2007. It is a family run business and is managed by Christine.

History of Property
The hostel might be relatively new but the house itself is about 180 years old.  A certain Roderick MacKenzie was granted a feu charter in 1823. It has also been owned by the major landlords of Lewis including Lord Leverhume (of Lever soap fame) and Lord Matheson (Matheson & Jardine, Hong Kong banking fame) Although recently upgraded the Heb Hostel has retained many of the period features such as the staircase and balustrades, Victorian fireplaces, skirting and architraves.
